Helen Anderson - PALS Team Leader

We arrived in Sydney in 2019, our 10th international move in 20+ years. My 14-year-old daughter started her education in the French system (PS) and continues to thrive in the dynamic multi-cultural environment of LCS. I have a PhD from the University of Illinois at Chicago. My research background gives me the expertise to analyse information to support the school. My health care background allows me to be an active listener in interaction with the school and the parents. I enjoy being involved with Parents & Friends and my role as an elected school committee representative. I feel the PALS team has constructively engaged with the school to enhance students' opportunities and the school environment.

We just moved back to Australia in 2021 and are thrilled to have two girls in Maternelle section. I've moved around multiple continents with nearly 20 years in aviation negotiating workable solutions to complex problems. Plenty of experience getting the difficult questions agreed by committee inside and outside work. Huge respect for the values of the school and the benefits of cross-cultural education so keen to do my small part helping the next generation build bridges. I am looking to take a consultative approach to problem-solving and to focus on pragmatic outcomes that work for children, parents, staff and the institution.

I am Australian, my husband is French, and we relocated to Sydney from France 8 months ago, having lived there for 11 years. We have three children, two in LCS in CE1 and PS and a 13-month-old. I am a lawyer and worked as a Solicitor for the NSW Public Prosecutor. In France, I worked as a lawyer in international criminal law for INTERPOL, where I participated in high-level fora and negotiations, including the UN and the WHO. I provided strategic advice to INTERPOL's Secretary General. I am involved in my children's education and wish them to be educated in an environment that understands their bi-cultural heritage. I am skilled at high-level strategic thinking and implementation, problem-solving and finding win-win solutions.

I am Belgian (french-speaking). Before moving to Australia, we spent ten years in London. I am a homeopath and currently also studying naturopathy. Our children began their education in the English system; however, we wanted them to develop their French and French culture knowledge while benefiting from an international environment. Lycée Condorcet Sydney offers them this opportunity. I am a past member of the School Council.

Having lived, studied and worked overseas in Sweden, USA, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand my family and I have made Sydney our home. By living overseas we made the conscious decision to give our children more than one window on the world and opportunities to become true citizens of the world. Openness, diversity, collaboration and understanding are the values we want our children to learn in an environment of international mobility in a plethora of cultures. Professionally I work as a senior project manager in the global financial services industry where global interaction across cultures and countries is a daily reality. If you can't find me near the school or in the CBD, you will find me somewhere near the ocean in my role as volunteer lifesaver in Bondi.

French, I have lived in Sydney for over 20 years. 3 children at LCS since 2005 – my eldest graduated from his French BAC in June 2020, and I still have one in IB2 and the other in 5eme/Y7. I have been working for the French nautical group Wichard for almost 20 years. Passionate about bilingualism and multiculturalism, I have found an ideal compromise with LCS to raise my children in a cultural context which is as French as Australian. I continue to defend those values as they are in line with my wish to offer an international perspective to my children, and to teach them inclusion, respect and diversity in the context of an ever-evolving world.

I’ve lived and worked in many different environments (medical and other) across a couple of countries and having kids attend a French school seemed a natural choice for us. Our kids learning while mixing with other kids from around the world, benefitting from bilingualism wrapped in the rigour of a French education - gold! We have 3 kids at the school from age 3 and not looked back. Professionally I would bring a strong work ethic, ability to problem solve and bring things to fruition together with perspective and (hopefully) a healthy dose of self-deprecation.

I hold a Masters of Laws (LLM) from ANU and have practised law for 12 years. I currently work as a lawyer at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and prior to joining ASIC, worked as a Senior Federal Prosecutor with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions. I have enormous respect for the education, culture and values taught at the school and am keen to contribute to Council to help foster open and collaborative discussions to achieve the best learning outcomes for the school’s students.

I have lived and worked in France, London and Sydney and am married to a Frenchman. Currently a full-time mother to Oscar (3.5yo) and Oliver (18mo). We are pleased that Oscar has joined PS at the school this year. I worked for 2 years in a Petite Section in Aix En Provence in the south of France as an English teacher. In Australia I started a business called Academic excellence as a tutor focussed on high achieving academic students, I ran this business for 15 years until I gave birth to my first son. I am a huge believer in the value of education, both in academic achievement and personal development. Both my husband and I are passionate about our children sharing our belief in an international identity, believing the world is getting smaller and that we must be respectful of different cultures, values and beliefs.
